Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

I love how the author of this post elaborates how I oftentimes feel.
An excerpt from Bebo Bharwani’s Under the Sun:
Meaningless, meaningless, everything is meaningless under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:2
In other words, the things you dream of, the stuff that keeps you up late at night, that you’ve been working hard for, you’ve been hunting down―all eventually amounts to nothing.

If there is one thing to remember from Solomon’s essay, this statement might give us the perspective we need:
He (God) has also set eternity in the hearts of men.
Ecclesiastes 3: 11
Somehow, God took something bigger than the space and time continuum and stuck it in the core of our existence; and here we are trying fill the bottomless abyss with “stuff”. Go figure!

There is a hunch that long before our heads could even begin to process the insatiable hunger, our hearts have always known that it needed something more than just the material. The very reason you continue to long, hope, dream and desire―to the point of aching―is because ultimately, your soul is trying to inform you that it is frantically desperate for the one thing that is truly eternal. God.
